Perfect! Thanks so much. The pruning went well, thanks to you! Good to know I can transplant them without harming them. My Rose Tone is ready!

Hi Janet, I'm so glad the video helped you! Yes, you can transplant them anytime in Spring. It's a lot to prune them heavily -- so I understand you've got some work ahead of you -- but -- you'll be so happy once it's done! And so will your roses! :) You could then wait until they've finished their first blooming cycle to transplant them -- or -- you can transplant them after you prune them, before they fully leaf out, which is what I would do. Either way is fine, but it might be easier before they really kick in with their growing. Add Rose-tone fertilizer -- or similar rose fertilizer -- once you transplant, and give them lots of water until you see they are growing and doing well! I hope this helps! Keep me posted!

Thank you so much for this video, Laura! Now I am not afraid!! LOL. I'm also in zone 7 (MD) and will plan to prune my knockouts heavily very soon. They need it. However, it's likely the I will want to relocate my knockout roses to another part of the yard later this spring. Will pruning and then transplanting 4-6 weeks later be ok for the plants?

Hi Kim, What garden zone are you in? I'm guessing a warm-weather part of the US, if the roses are currently blooming? And just triple-checking that you have Knockout Roses, yes? How tall are the plants, would you estimate? Apologies for all of the questions, but this will help me to figure this one out. :) It sounds like you don't have any stems that are growing "out" from the center of the rose bush. Usually with a good pruning -- like you did in November -- new stems will sprout forth from wherever you made your pruning cuts, almost like the shape of the capital letter Y. (The base of the Y is the original stem that you pruned, and the two top parts of the Y are the resulting new stems jutting out from where you made the pruning cut.) Are you seeing anything like that? I also tend to cut out stems growing "into" the rose bush, so that all growth positions outward and upward. Usually only one pruning a year is necessary, so if you did another pruning, I wouldn't do it all the way down to 12 inches as that won't be necessary. In the Spring, take the top "tall" stems" and prune them down to the widest point in your shrub. Don't prune anything from the sides and hopefully they will continue to grow nicely.

Hi Laura,
My rose bushes were just planted this past May, so they’re 7 months old now. I noticed they were growing tall rather than full and bushy. So I pruned them in November to about 12” tall. Now they’ve grown back and are blooming and the roses are beautiful. But the overall plants are still tall and not full and bushy. Should I just do another major pruning in the early spring to try to help them get fuller?

Hi Debra -- You can prune your Knockouts either in the late Fall or the early Spring. You're in luck, as I'm editing a video that will be up later this week (on my YouTube Channel) all about Fall care and pruning of Knockout Roses! I hope it will help you!
