I have a fun project to share with you today: an altered composition book! The transformation – just using paint and stencils – is amazing, and takes this from a boring notebook to a stylish and pretty one. An altered composition book is a great gift for anyone going off to college! (And I have more gift ideas further down in this post!)

You can see the complete tutorial – along with step-out pictures – in my monthly craft contributor post over at the PinkWhen blog!

Think about this as a meaningful handmade gift idea too. These notebooks – once altered – turn into beautiful journals and blank books. Give them out to your bridesmaids, host a girl’s night in and make these together over a glass of wine and fun conversation, make a bunch for hostess gifts, or teacher appreciation gifts, or stocking stuffers – for a large stocking of course! These altered composition books also are a great craft idea for a tween or teen birthday party too, especially if it’s a sleepover as the books will be dry by the next morning!

So head on over to PinkWhen and get all the details in my contributor post there!

Happy crafting!

~Laura

Wow! This is so pretty Laura. I love altered art projects and this one is so do-able when time is limited. Thanks for sharing…I’ve pinned this one! 🙂

Thanks so much Lisa! And I totally agree with you: this project doesn’t take nearly as long as some crafty DIYs do!
