What do you buy for that always-hard-to-shop-for person on your list? Lottery tickets! Yes this IS a crafty post for you today – so keep reading! Grab the new holiday-themed Instant Games from the New Jersey Lottery and turn them into a present in fun and creative ways! Here’s a few easy ideas to get you inspired!

Easy Lottery Ticket Gift Ideas

Disclosure: Holiday Instant Games lottery tickets were provided by the New Jersey Lottery.
All project ideas and opinions are 100% my own!

The New Jersey Lottery has come out with 4 new Instant Games for the holiday season!

All of the games are holiday-themed and offered at different price points:

  • $1 Holiday Cheer
  • $2 Holiday Luck Times 10
  • $5 Holiday Sparkle
  • $10 Season’s Gold

For that always-hard-to-shop-for person on your list, these NJ Lottery Holiday Scratch Offs are the perfect gift.

The trick to giving lottery tickets as a gift is to pair them with something fun in a creative way.

  • Think about how the major stores have become creative with their own gift card presentations.
  • Next time you’re out shopping, pay attention to the in-store displays to see how gift cards are shown wrapped up in fun ways for gift-giving ease.
  • Use clear shrink wrap plastic (found at most craft stores in floral or gift wrap sections) so that your recipient can actually see the gift through the plastic.
  • Consider using a plain white plate — or a metallic charger plate — to lay your gift out flat. It will be the background to make the lottery tickets “pop” with their colors. Add trinkets around the tickets. Using shrink wrap, your gift will stay place.

Let’s get started on some fun ideas!

$1 Holiday Cheer

IDEA: Make an inexpensive gift into a better one just by adding a decorative tin box you can find at the dollar store or a gift store. Add some loose jingle bells into the box to add a festive touch.

You don’t have to know your recipient well in order to come up with a cool way to gift these tickets.

IDEA: Think up a fun theme for your gift recipient, in this case using play money and game pieces. This works especially well when gifting lottery tickets as party favors, in addition to a gift idea.

IDEA: In the example above, lay out play money and game pieces on a plain white plate with the lottery tickets on top. Wrap with shrink wrap so everything stays mostly in place.

IDEA: In the example below, I used a fun metallic platinum-colored wallet, with the play money sticking out as well as the lottery tickets. A few game pieces in the zippered pouch are a cute extra touch.

Don’t want to include a wallet? No problem!

IDEA: Tie up a bundle of tickets with some thin red ribbon! In the center of the bow, add in a little charm or a vintage board game piece similar to what I did here:

$5 Holiday Sparkle

You need a gift for your best girlfriend, or a gift for someone who is fabulous and loves fashion, jewelry and so on.

IDEA: Tie up some lottery tickets that have a sparkly sheen to them — and in this case I lucked out with NJ Lottery tickets actually called Holiday Sparkle – and add an oversized metallic glam jingle bell to the bow. Stick it inside a small decorative paper bag with some matching jingle bells.

IDEA: Hit the dollar store to find a costume evening bag. Add some matching paper shred and some fake loose diamonds spilling out of it. Wrap it up in see-through plastic with a bow and jingle bells.

You can find fake loose diamonds online or at major craft stores — check the jewelry or beading aisles to start.

IDEA: Use a flat plate to lay out the sparkly tickets, surrounded by fake loose diamonds, fake loose jewels, sequins, jingle bells… You get the idea! Wrap it up with shrink wrap so it all stays relatively in place. (See the photo toward the beginning of this post.)

Lottery tickets are such a fun gift solution because you’re giving something where there’s a chance for a large cash payout!

Talk about a gift within a gift!

Here’s some gift recipient ideas:

  • Stocking stuffers
  • Coworker gifts
  • Party favors
  • Hostess gifts
  • Gift exchanges

Where can I buy NJ Lottery tickets? Just about everywhere!

Maybe one of your gift recipients will hit it big and treat you to dinner!

NJ Lottery Gifts could be the gifts that keep on giving!
