I’ve found the best – and easiest – solution to carrying around my iPhone camera lenses: I simply repurposed a contact lens case into a smartphone lens case!
One of my favorite toys is my set of iPhone camera lenses that I purchased from Photojojo. There’s a few different lenses you can get, and I love playing with them for different effects. (These lenses are available for Androids too.)
Truth be told, I need more playtime to really get the most out of them, but my problem has been how to safely carry them around with me.
This weekend I finally solved the problem just by repurposing an unused – but still useful – contact lens travel case that I’ve had for years.
Here’s the contact lens travel case – which looks like a cute little wallet when closed:
And here’s the inside of the case:
It’s cute, but I never used it. I kept it just in case I might need it someday for something. I know: that’s what hoarders do, but I swear I’m not that bad!
The iPhone lenses that I have each come with a protective lens cap, and simply attach to my iPhone with a magnet. They have a protective magnet cover on the back too.
I decided to use the magnet covers to my advantage with this repurposed case idea!
The largest lens fit easily into the pocket.
I snapped the other lenses back-to-back with their magnets and slid them into the elastic band.
And that’s it!
Now I can play with my iPhone lenses wherever I go!
I’ve seen similar contact lens cases on Amazon here (affiliate link – see my sidebar for details) as well as at dollar stores and even some gift stores too.
And just to show you how super cool these lenses are, here’s a photo taken with my macro lens:
This painted burlap detail is ahh-MAY-zing! It’s like looking under a microscope!
Here’s where this painted burlap is from:
That’s my Burlap Wall Art DIY pictured above.
So there you have it: I finally solved my “How do I carry my smartphone lenses around with me?” dilemma!
