Socks for Sandy Update: Hats, Gloves, Socks for New Jersey's victims

February 2013 update: The Socks for Sandy project has concluded. Thank you for all of your generosity! ~Laura

Monday, November 5, 2012

Since launching this on Saturday night, I have been in awe at everyone's generosity. I've heard from people located all over the United States and Canada wanting to help. I can't say "Thank you!" enough to convey my appreciation for your help and support.

Here is the quick information:

We are in urgent need of new packages of underwear as well as socks, gloves, winter hats for all ages, and all shapes and sizes - from babies on up to adults - for those in this area who lost everything in Hurricane Sandy.

Please send winter hats, gloves, mittens, socks and/or new packages of underwear to:

Socks for Sandy
P.O. Box 520
Little Egg Harbor, NJ  08087

Please mail as soon as you can, as the need is urgent.

Click here to read how Socks for Sandy came about, and to see some pictures of the devastation in my town.

Quick update on the supplies coming into our area:

The hurricane shelter has been in the local middle school, and operations will have to move as classes resume next week. I've been told the new location for supplies will be located right next to the post office where I'm picking up your packages! Fingers crossed this is what happens. It will make it so easy for me to deliver the warmth that you send!

A huge Thank-You-with-Hugs to my blogger friends:

I want to thank an incredible network of DIY and craft bloggers spread out all over the US and Canada. These bloggers have taken time to share Socks for Sandy with their own readers, and for that I am truly grateful. A clickable list of the bloggers is below. Please visit their blogs to find amazing design inspiration, DIY creativity and crafty projects.

And thank YOU too:

I'll never be able to say it enough: Thank you on behalf of the residents in this area who lost everything. The gift of warmth you are providing means so much.

~Laura

  11. Hi Laura,
We at Jasper Contractors are looking to ship out a little over 1000 pairs of socks for this cause. However we cannot seem to find a wholesaler who is able to ship to a P.O. Box. Is there another address we can ship the socks to? You can call us at 770-799-3292 or 404-844-8071, or email media@jasperinc.org. Hope to hear from you soon!

    1. Thanks so much Krystal, Stephanie, and everyone at Jasper Contractors! I'm so glad we were able to work things out via the post office, especially since the shelter's supply center is temporarily located right next door! I look fwd to receiving the shipment that you're sending of socks for men, women and children! And I look fwd even MORE to getting them to those who need it most.
